About UTxO consolidation (Yoroi Mobile)

UTxO Consolidation is a maintenance feature that allows you to combine all unspent transaction fragments (UTxOs) across your wallet into a single address.

In the Cardano UTxO model, your total balance is often spread across multiple addresses. This tool triggers a single transaction to consolidate all of them together, which:

  • Reduces future fees: Larger transactions with many UTxO inputs are more expensive to process.
  • Improves DApp compatibility: Some DApps require your funds to be located at a single address to function correctly.
  • Optimizes wallet performance: It makes your wallet "lighter" and faster to sync.

Where is it available?

This feature is exclusive to Yoroi Mobile (iOS and Android).

Note: UTxO Consolidation is currently not available on the Yoroi Browser Extension.

How can I access it?

There are two ways to access the consolidation tool within the mobile app:

From Menu:

  • Tap the Menu > UTxO List.
  • View your current fragments and trigger a consolidation transaction if there are too many.

Notifications:

  • If your UTxOs become heavily fragmented (spread across many addresses), a notification will appear and prompt you to make a transaction to consolidate your UTxOs.
  • Simply tap the notification to go directly to the consolidation screen.

You will pay a regular transaction fee.
