How to connect a Ledger hardware wallet to Yoroi?

Yoroi Extension lets you connect Ledger hardware wallets (Nano S, Nano S+, Nano X ) to securely manage ADA while keeping private keys offline on your Ledger device

Before you start

  • Update Yoroi to the latest version.
  • Make sure your Ledger is up to date. To upgrade, you should update your firmware through Ledger Live first, then update the Cardano app.
  • Close Ledger Live completely—keep it closed during all Yoroi usage to avoid conflicts.
  • Open the Cardano app on your Ledger.

How to connect

On extension
  1. Open Yoroi Extension and click Connect hardware wallet.
  2. Pick Ledger Hardware wallet.
  3. Follow the prerequisites shown, then click Next > Connect.
  4. Choose your device. Use any option for S Plus.
  5. If you see a popup "[emurgo.github.io wants to connect to an HID device]", click your Ledger device to highlight it, and click Connect
  6. Follow on-screen instructions on both Ledger and Yoroi to export the public key.
  7. Name your wallet and click Save.
  8. Your Ledger wallet now appears in the Dashboard.

  3. Verify prerequisites, then tap Continue.
  4. Follow on-screen prompts to pair the device and export public key.
  5. Name your wallet and save it.

Troubleshooting issues using Ledger

Your Ledger, Cardano app, and Yoroi Extension must all be updated to work properly.

  1. "[emurgo.github.io wants to connect to an HID device]" popup: Click your Ledger device in the popup to highlight it, then click Connect.
  2. Ledger Live is running: close Ledger Live completely before using Yoroi. The applications conflict with each other.
  3. Ledger Nano X connected via USB: **disable **Bluetooth on the Nano X. Bluetooth interferes with USB connections.
  4. **Ledger displays "Waiting for commands": **press both buttons simultaneously on the Ledger, even if Yoroi shows no pending co.
  5. Incorrect device connected: if Yoroi shows "Incorrect device connected" (or similar), it means the hardware wallet instance doesn't match the original device ID registered with Yoroi. Remove the current copy in Settings > Wallet > Remove wallet and connect the new device.
