How to restore a wallet (Yoroi Extension)?

Before You Begin

Make sure you have your 15- or 24-word recovery phrase ready. Do not enter hardware wallet recovery phrases into Yoroi — use the Connect hardware wallet option instead.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Access the Wallet Menu

If a wallet is already open, click the wallet icon in the top-right corner to open the wallets menu.

Step 2: Add New Wallet

Click Add new wallet.

Step 3: Choose Restore Existing Wallet

Select Restore wallet.

NB! If you use a hardware wallet (Ledger or Trezor), you need to go through Connect hardware wallet instead. Never enter your Ledger's/Trezor's recovery phrase in Yoroi.

Step 4: Select Recovery Phrase Type

Yoroi wallets use 15-word phrases. Other wallets (like Daedalus) may use 24-word phrases.

Select the correct option for your case.

Step 5: Enter Recovery Phrase

Input the words in the correct order. If unsure about spelling, use the BIP39 word list to verify it.

Note: If you see the message “Incorrect recovery phrase. Try again”, it means the recovery phrase you entered is not valid. This can happen if the phrase belongs to a different wallet or platform, or if it was saved incorrectly.
To restore your wallet, you must use the exact recovery phrase that was generated for it. Without the correct recovery phrase, wallet restoration is not possible.

Step 6: Set Wallet Details

Choose a name and set a new password (this does not have to match your original one).

Click RESTORE to complete the process.

When finished, press RESTORE. Once restored, your balance and transaction history should appear after syncing is complete.
