I entered my Ledger’s/Trezor’s recovery phrase and it opened an empty wallet.

You should never enter your hardware wallet's recovery phrase in Yoroi. You are only required to connect your device to open your Cardano wallet.

Typing your hardware wallet's recovery phrase in Yoroi won't work because Cardano has a custom way of deriving the root private key from a recovery phrase.  Ledger and Trezor use another standard for this instead.
